Origin of Macrame
Macrame is an art that dates back to the 13th century, and is thought to have originated from arab weavers. Later this craft spread to European sailors who spent long hours at sea. This helped the art to spread to China and the new world. In Victorian times it was popular for adornments on clothing, curtains, and jewelry. During the 70s, macrame plant hangers and owls were very popular. Today, macrame jewelry is the most popular area in the evolution of this art. https://www.artfire.com/admin/product_images/thumbs/--90000--81389_product_2000527331_thumb_large.jpg
